Founded in 2016, Montry Blackbeard is a collaboration of two artists, Marc Montry and Gustavo Rodriguez. This unique partnership is dedicated to the design and manufacture of grand scale installation art centered around themes of science, literature and philosophy. As aesthetic displays of high-dimensional complex engineering, these abstract threedimensional forms are made of precision machined and water cut metals, glass, resins and stones in conjunction with light and kinetic movement.
Montry and Gustavo (also known as Blackbeard) set out to create a collection of different sculptures, artwork and furniture pieces, several of which were custom designed for private house owners. Most materials were sourced within the USA and are all built in Miami, Florida. Some pieces are meant for indoor display, while others can be enjoyed outdoors.
The current collection hosts two amazing centerpieces, Origins of Nuclei and Wishing Portal. Clients are welcome to view the collection at the gallery in Miami, where you can see both of these pieces and several other beautiful sculptures, furniture and paintings.

MARC MONTRY
“I’ve always been fascinated by different cultures and languages. Art, to me, is a universal language. Frequently, interpretation of art exceeds the intention of the artist. This collection is meant to challenge the way the audience thinks of beauty, time, and space.”
Marc Montry is an artist, licensed architect and published author. His inspiration comes from a deep curiosity of the world and the people within it, alongside his passion for science and philosophy. His career in architecture and grand travel throughout the world, exposed him to many different aspects of design, construction and development. Marc often calls on his love of literature and his passion for writing to express his vision and conceptualize the artwork to fit with the surroundings.
Montry is 60 years old, born in Venice Beach, California and now resides in Sarasota, Florida.
GUSTAVO RODRIGUEZ

Gus Rodríguez, nicknamed Blackbeard by Montry himself, is a successful entrepreneur in construction and real estate development. Blackbeard turned to art to fulfill his passion of building beautiful things at a more personal level. His skills, knowledge and expertise in the worlds of manufacturing and construction provide an important perspective to the partnership and how each piece is built and maintained. Inspiration for Blackbeard comes from exposure to people’s everyday lives and seeing the beauty within them. Gus is 43 years old and has been a lifelong resident of Miami, Florida.
